Who are God's People?

Who is Israel?  Who is Jew?  Who are you?

This writing is not intended to be a complete telling of this topic, but with a thought to brevity, it should allow for good learning.
Probably no topic or issue can stand alone without consideration for information from other topics and issues.  Therefore, for better understanding of terms and concepts used herein, other papers should be read in conjunction with this paper and others.  One in particular for early reading is What is in a Name

It seems that if you desire to show yourself as belonging to something, then you would use a nomenclature that best fits.  If your father gave you a name and you want to be known as your father’s child, then surely you would use the name he gives you.

You should have an understanding of some terminology, such as the use of the word "Israel".  This will help better understand the writings contained here.  For some help you can check the paper called "What is in a Name?" [found at the same source as this paper].

Jews are only l/12th of Israel.

1.    A very common mis-conception is to say that the Jews are Israel’s (the creator) chosen people, or the Jews are the people of the Old Testament, or the Jews came out of Egypt, or the Jews were in the wilderness for 40 years, or the Jews crossed the Red (Reed) sea, or the Jews this, or the Jews that.  Most people do not realize they are ignoring the facts.  Most of the time when someone uses the word Jew, they probably would be correct to use Hebrew or Israelite.  But through various forces, the word Jew has been foisted upon the people to give the Jews a greater importance than is disserving.

2.    As the younger fraternal-twin son of Isaac and Rebekah, grandson of Abraham and Sarah, Jacob was to play a very important part in the establishment of the people of God and their history through the centuries.

3.    God changed Jacob's name to Israel. From this one man came the nation (family) of Israel.  Israel had twelve sons: Reuben, Simeon, Levi, Judah, Dan, Naphtali, Gad, Asher, Issachar, Zebulun, Joseph and Benjamin. From the descendants of these twelve sons of Israel came the twelve tribes of Israel.

4.    The tribe of Levi formed the priesthood and were effectively dispersed throughout the other eleven tribes. Moses and Aaron were of the tribe of Levi.  Tithing was established by Israel (the creator)  for support the tribe of Levi – the priesthood.  This allowed them to spend their time in pursuit of, and performance of, Israel’s (the creator) will and command.  This is significant today, because many churches burden you to tithe to them.  Some color it by calling it a gift or offering, but they use the “law” of tithing to cajole you to ante up.  Unless a pastor, preacher, priest, minister or such can show, or even dare claim, to be of the tribe of Levi, he is not entitled any “tithe”.  Tithing is not what you give to Israel (the creator) , but rather your support of the Levitical priesthood.  (Hebrews 7:4-5) (en# 1)

5.    Two of Israel's grandsons, Ephraim and Manasseh, the sons of Joseph, were designated as individual tribes to restore the number to twelve.

6.    In this modern world, the best known of the tribes of Israel is of course Judah.  From Judah's descendants came the "Jews." King David descended from Judah, as did Yahshua the Christ much later.  It is important to note that while all Jews are Israelites, not all Israelites are Jews.  The Jews are only 1/12th of Israel.  Jacob begot 12 sons, one of which was Judah who begot a land called Judea which begot a people called Jews.

7.    After the death of David's son Solomon, the Israelites split into two kingdoms. Judah and Benjamin formed the southern kingdom of "Judah" with their capital at Jerusalem, while the other ten tribes formed the northern kingdom of "Israel" with their capital at Samaria. From time to time Judah and Israel actually fought wars against each other!

8.    The northern kingdom of Israel was conquered and taken away by the Assyrians in the eighth century B.C. They effectively disappeared from history and became known as the "Lost Ten Tribes" of Israel.  Many millions of their descendants exist today in many parts of the world, but very few have any idea of their origin.  Despite their various modern-day political "nationalities," they are however, as far as the Bible is concerned, still all Israelites.  The knowledge of who they are is vital to the understanding of prophecy!  When you read “Gentile”, substitute it as “Lost Ten Tribes of Israel”.

9.    The southern kingdom of Judah was also conquered and transported away, by the Babylonians, about two centuries after the northern kingdom. However, after the Babylonians were themselves conquered by the Persians, the Jews were allowed to return to Jerusalem where they were again conquered in turn by the Greeks and Romans. The Jews did however manage to keep their hold on Jerusalem, on and off, right to the present day.

Israel and Judah reunited
A New Covenant

10    For all the ferver regarding Judah and Israel, and who is who, and who hates who, the seemingly missing element is that we are told that both houses will be one day again be together.  Hosea

11    OK, so you declare that this is old testament stuff and does not apply after the arrival and life of Yahshua, for we are under a “new” covenant, and for some reason you hold that we are not under these things of the old testament.  It is true that under the new covenant the things of the old testament will be in some way altered.  Notice I said “will be”.  The new covenant has yet to arrive.  What???  You mean to say you have been taught that we are already under the new covenant?

12    Take a look at these specifications.  The phrase “new covenant” appears in the whole Scripture a whopping 4 times.  Once, prior to Yahshua, and 3 times since.  First, look at Hebrews 12:24 (en# 2) and notice a quaint often over looked statement.  Yahshua is the MEDIATOR of the “new covenant”.  Covenant is another word for contract.  Once a contract is implemented, there is no longer any need for a mediator.  We know that Yahshua is still with us in his teachings and in his preparation of a great mansion and again in his return.  So long as Yahshua is involved, the covenant is not yet.  It is still being mediated.  You yourself have often argued in this favor.  Sure you have.  Have you not declared or parroted that “Jesus runs intercession for us”.  Of course you refer to verses such as Romans 8:34 (en# 3) and Hebrews 7:22 (en# 4).  To help explain these, we have Jeremiah 31:31-34 (en# 5) and Hebrews 8:8 (en# 6), which explain that the new covenant will be with Israel and Judah, and the timing is such that Israel (the creator) will not remember our sins.  This means a time will come that Israel (the creator) will not remember our sins.  Obviously, with Yahshua running intercession for us, we must be sinning and Israel (the creator) must be remembering.  Without remembrance, we would not need an intercessor.  Therefore, this time will be when we no longer sin, and Israel (the creator) will not remember what we do not do.

13    First we must understand that “Israel” as used in this context is referring to the Northern tribes of Israel and Judah is referring to the Southern tribes of Israel.  In the first half of that sentence, it looks and sounds like I said that that Israel is a tribe of Israel (you are a part of you).  It makes sense if you have studied the history of when the house of Israel split.

14    After the death of David's son Solomon, the Israelites split into two kingdoms. Judah and Benjamin formed the southern kingdom of "Judah" with their capital at Jerusalem, while the other ten tribes formed the northern kingdom of "Israel" with their capital at Samaria. From time to time Judah and Israel actually fought wars against each other!

15    The Northern kingdom of Israel was conquered and taken away by the Assyrians in the eighth century B.C.

16    The southern kingdom of Judah was also conquered and transported away, by the Babylonians, about two centuries after the northern kingdom. However, after the Babylonians were themselves conquered by the Persians, the tribe of Judah (from whence “Jews” is derived) were allowed to return to Jerusalem where they were again conquered in turn by the Greeks and Romans. The Jews (and the rest of Israel) must be in existence to this present day (otherwise they could not be part of a latter day covenant with Israel (the creator) ).  To be clear on this, for the purposes of most Scriptural references, the word “Israel” has 2 meanings regarding a people.  It can mean the whole house of Israel, the sons of Jacob.  It can mean the Northern division of the house, as distinguished from the Southern division call Judea.  Generally, the Northern division is the portion which is referred to as the “lost tribes of Israel” or the “10 lost tribes”.  Both are Israel, but one division also shares the same name.  This would be like Bob having children and they are called the house of Bob.  One of Bob’s children is named after the father and also called Bob.  The son Bob is of the house of Bob, but the 2 Bobs are not the same.  Obviously, for the purpose of the new covenant, Israel refers to the portion of the HOUSE of Israel that is not Judah.  While “house of Israel” refers to all of Israel, including Judah.

17    Now you can understand what is meant in Jeremiah and Hebrews about a new covenant with Israel and Judah.  Are you aware of any people claiming to be Jew, Judah or the like being in contract (covenant) with anyone else being called Israelite, and that this contract is with Israel (the creator) ?  Are you aware of any people claiming to be Israelite, or any of the tribes of Israel being in contract with anyone else being called Judah (Jew), and that this contract is with Israel (the creator) ?  Absent these, the new covenant is not yet in effect.  You know this must be so, because it is certain that if Israel (the creator) made a covenant with someone, that someone would know it.

18    The 37th chapter of Ezediel especially around verse 19 (en# 35) is another example of a prophesy regarding the reuniting of Israel and Judah.

19    In regards to the new covenant, we are to understand that Judah and Israel will be REUNITED.  Both factions of the house of Israel (Juda and Israel) will be joined in covenant with Israel (the creator) .  Do the “Jews” of today lay assent to being joined with anyone, in the name of Israel (the creator) ?  No.  Does anyone lay assent to being joined with the “Jews” of today?  No.  So how can the new covenant be in effect yet?  Are we in the Kingdom yet?  NO.

20    In Jeremiah, we are also told that in the time of the new covenant, he will not remember sins.  Since Israel (the creator) remembers everything, it makes sense that the reason he does not remember sins is because we do not commit any sins, for him to remember.  You know you are a sinner and have even admitted so.  Therefore, you are not yet in the Kingdom or under the new convenant – yet.  When we enter the Kingdom of Israel (the creator)/Heaven we will then be under the new covenant.

21    Now you can no longer say that the old testament stuff does not apply because we are under a new covenant, because we are NOT under a new covenant.  This “New Covenant” is simply the marriage covenant of the Bride and the Lamb, referred to in many instances in the Bible.  Unless you claim that Yahshua has returned and married the bride, then the new covenant is not yet.

22    This shows us that there are 2 names by which Israel’s (the creator) people have been known.  The name “Israel” is the ubiquitous name by which Israel’s (the creator) people have always been known and are in this day.

Israel and Judah together

23    Since the time after the split of Israel in to two peoples thereafter known as Israel and Judah, they have never been united and appointed themselves an single leader.  Hosea 1:10-11 (en# 7) tells us that Judah and Israel will get together and appoint a leader for themselves.  Since this has not yet happened, it surely must be still in the future.

What are Israel’s (the creator) people called today?
Not Christians

24    A common thought and belief is that Israel’s (the creator) people are today called “Christian”.  Yet this seems to be a product of the imagination of man.  Scripture has only 3 references to “Christian” or “Christians”.  They are Acts 11:26 for “Christians”, Acts 26:28 for “Christian” and 1 Peter 4:16 for “Christian” again.

25    The disciples were called Christian.  Acts 11:26 (en# 8) tells us that the disciples were for the first time called Christian, at Antioch.  On the surface, it seems that the common people, the sheeple, were not called Christian.  But a straight forward reading of the verses of Acts 11:26 seems that only the disciples were called Christian.  One explanation for this could be in the distinction of the disciples and primarily everyone else.  The disciples were teachers to everyone else.  By extension, when a person becomes a teacher of the Scriptures, they become known as “Christian”.

26    While Paul was before Agrippa, he was taunted by Agrippa.  Agrippa teases Paul about almost converting Agrippa to be a Christian (Acts 26:28) (en# 9).  Agrippa is being sarcastic.  If Agrippa were serious, then this could be seen as allowing the common people to be called Christian, or it could be seen as Agrippa claiming that he would be a disciple (teacher, preacher).  But it is not clear that the common people would properly be called Christian, at least not by virtue of this verse, especially when compared with Acts 11:26.

27    Whatever a Christian is, Peter also did not make it clear in 1 Peter 4:16 (en# 10).  Peter only said that if a man suffers AS A Christian, let not be ashamed.  In light of Acts 11:26, this verse could simply say that if a man suffers as a disciple would suffer (remember they died destitute, in jail, murdered and such) he should not be ashamed.

Who is called by his name?

28    There is an interesting phrase in 2 Chronicles 7:14 (en# 11) when it says "If those people, which are called by my name,"

29    If this means that Israel’s (the creator) people use a name which resembles the name of Israel’s (the creator), then it must be Israel.  There is of course the interpretation that those called by his name are those that follow after Israel’s (the creator) beckoning.

30    The people of Israel (the creator) were known by the name of Israel.  Many verses tell us that Israel (the creator) called his people by the name of “Israel”.  Some of them are 2 Chronicles 6:5-6, Jeremiah 7:12 and Ezekiel 39:7-8.

31    In 2 Chronicles 6:5-6 (en# 12), we find that not only does Israel (the creator) called his peole “Israel”, but that His name will be with them.  After Israel inhabited Jerusalem and coming of David, Israel (the creator) picked Jerusalem to be the focus of his people “Israel” and that David would be King over “Israel”.

32    Even while Israel (the creator) sees his people are wicked, he still calls them “Israel”. (Jeremiah 7:12) (en# 19)  Israel (the creator) declares he will make his name known to his people “Israel” and that the heathen (non Hebrew/Israel) will know that he, “I am”, is Lord and the Holy one (sacred) in “Israel”.

33    Isaiah told us that Israel’s (the creator) people will (future time) be called by a new name (Isaiah 62:2) (en# 14).  This will be a name that Israel (the creator) himself will say.  This is important.  Interestingly, Ezekiel tell us of an example of Israel (the creator) saying he has spoken regarding his name as Lord of his people Israel. (Ezekiel 39:7) (en# 13)

34    In John’s visions he saw a stone which contained a new name which only those who receive the name will know (Revelation 2:17) (en# 15).

35    John also learned of people who will be overcomers, and how Israel (the creator) will write upon them his new name (Revelation 3:9) (en# 16).  So it seems that not only will Israel’s (the creator) people get a new name other than “Israel”, but Israel (the creator) also will get a new name.

36    But it has not yet happened.  Israel (the creator) is still Israel (the creator) and his people are still known as “Israel”.

37    Each and every one of these references is future tense.  Isaiah is clearly future tense from thousands of years ago.  John’s visions are of a time still yet to come.  If a person argues that they are already being called by the new name, then they are saying they have overcome the tribulations yet to come and that they were told their new name by Israel (the creator) .

38    These peoples who have been told their new name could be a group of peoples or it could be an elect (select) bunch of individuals.

39    If you claim to be Israel’s (the creator) people or want to be his people (grafted or adopted), you should be known by the name he has selected for you, in your times.  You should call yourself by the name your Father gives you.  Until Israel (the creator) tells you his new name for you, you should be known by the last name he has given you.  If you want to adopt a nickname for yourself, there probably is no problem with that, but your real name should still be what your Father gave you.

40    There is not one Scripture that says Israel (the creator) has yet uttered a new name for his People.  From his first calling his people “Israel” till this modern era (circa 2000 AD) there has not been a single verse saying that some person, prophet or such heard Israel (the creator) tell them a new name for his people.  There has not been a single (verifiable or believable) report of a burning bush, a pillar of smoke or fire, a vision wrestling with angels – nothing.

41    Let us return to the people of Israel (the creator) being called by his name, Israel (2 Chronicles 7:14).  We must understand that Israel (the creator) and Yahshua are the same person.  This is difficult for some people and with good reason.  We fairly well grasp things of the corporeal realm, but have little grasp things of the spriit realm.  Israel (the creator) exists in both spirit and corporeal (probably with a heavy leaning in the spirit).  The son, Yahshua, wholly existed in the corporeal.  Yahshua was not a spirit being, he had no powers, he was a man, he was flesh.  Nowhere in scripture do you find a reference of Yahshua doing something of his own power, but rather he called upon the power of the Father.  This merely explains the corporeal/spirit nature of the Son.  Another writing [not yet written] will explain this better.

42    But, many scholars rightly agree that Yahshua is in the "old testament".  They use references like John 1:1-5 and other references.

John 1:1  In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
2 The same was in the beginning with God.
3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.
4 In him was life; and the life was the light of men.
5 And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.
43    Interestingly, most people fail to see his name.  It is true that the Hebrew name for the father is Yah (an English translation) and the Hebrew name for the son is Yahshua (an English translation), but scripture actually gives us his name.

44    Get ready and look at Isaiah 49:1-6

Isaiah 49:1  Listen, O isles, unto me; and hearken, ye people, from far; The LORD hath called me from the womb; from the bowels of my mother hath he made mention of my name.
 2 And he hath made my mouth like a sharp sword; in the shadow of his hand hath he hid me, and made me a polished shaft; in his quiver hath he hid me;
3 And said unto me, Thou art my servant, O Israel, in whom I will be glorified.
4 Then I said, I have laboured in vain, I have spent my strength for nought, and in vain: yet surely my judgment is with the LORD, and my work with my God.
5 And now, saith the LORD that formed me from the womb to be his servant, to bring Jacob again to him, Though Israel be not gathered, yet shall I be glorious in the eyes of the LORD, and my God shall be my strength.
6 And he said, It is a light thing that thou shouldest be my servant to raise up the tribes of Jacob, and to restore the preserved of Israel: I will also give thee for a light to the Gentiles, that thou mayest be my salvation unto the end of the earth.
The dialogue continues, but the point here is the name of the son, the son who is the father.  There goes the corporeal/spirit thing again.

45    To understand the set of verses, we need to make sense of the nouns and pronouns.  Many people talk like this verse set.  Surely you have done the same in that you might say "he is going to pick up her brother and he will go to the mall".  What must be known is who is the 1st "he"' and who is "her" (which may tell us who the "brother" is); and who is the 2nd "he".  So let us look at Isaiah 49:1-6 while substituting the identifiers.

Isaiah 49:1  Listen, O isles, unto me; and hearken, ye people, from far; The LORD [God in the spirit] hath called me from the womb [the son]; from the bowels of my mother hath he [God in the spirit] made mention of my name.
 2 And he hath made my mouth like a sharp sword [the son who cut men with his words]; in the shadow of his hand hath he hid me, and made me a polished shaft; in his quiver hath he hid me;
3 And said unto me, Thou art my servant, O Israel, in whom I will be glorified.
4 Then I said, I have laboured in vain, I have spent my strength for nought, and in vain: yet surely my judgment is with the LORD, and my work with my God.
5 And now, saith the LORD that formed me from the womb [the son, again] to be his servant, to bring Jacob again to him, Though Israel be not gathered, yet shall I [the son, again] be glorious in the eyes of the LORD, and my God shall be my strength.
46    In each of these above insertions you can see who is talking, who is referenced.  This is a report of Yahshua, whose name is "Israel" talking about Yah, the Lord/father and their relationship.  But, there is a further relationship discussed here.  It is one of Jacob and his descendents.  Did you catch it?  Look at verse 5.  The son, Yahshua/Israel was formed from the womb for a purpose, which was to bring Jacob (his lineage) back to Israel (the creator) .

47    Look at Matthew 10:6 and Matthew 15:24 to learn what Yahshua himself said about his mission.  In Mathew 10:6, Yahshua sends his Disciples to the "lost house of Israel".

Matthew 10:5  These twelve Jesus sent forth, and commanded them, saying, Go not into the way of the Gentiles, and into any city of the Samaritans enter ye not:
6 But go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.
7 And as ye go, preach, saying, The kingdom of heaven is at hand.
8 Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: freely ye have received, freely give.
In Matthew 15:24, Yahshua professes he was sent (by whom) to the "lost house of Israel".
Matthew 15:22  And, behold, a woman of Canaan came out of the same coasts, and cried unto him, saying, Have mercy on me, O Lord, thou Son of David; my daughter is grievously vexed with a devil.
23 But he answered her not a word. And his disciples came and besought him, saying, Send her away; for she crieth after us.
24 But he answered and said, I am not sent but unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel.
48    When these verses in Matthew 10:6 & 15:24 are crossed with the references in Isaiah 49:1-6 and 2 Chronicles 7:14 and others, you can see that the Father and the Son are one in the same (one existing in spirit, the other in corporeal).  The Son of God is called "Israel" and his people are called by his name "Israel" and his purpose, as Yahshua, was to regather the tribes of Jacob called "Israel", to follow him.

49    So, the people of Israel (the creator) are called Israel or Israelites.  Do not confuse this name with Israeli, which are a modern people of a modern land called Israel.  Most scriptural references to Israel are of people and not of a land.

How do we, today, know the people of Israel (the creator)?

50    In today’s world, we have a mentality that tries to distance itself from Israel, or at least using that name.  Why?  Is it cursed?  Actually, it is ignorance.

51    Yahshua came from the tribe of Judah to lead his people.  Israel (the creator) people are called Israel.  New Text reports from Matthew tell us this is so (Matthew 2:6) (en# 17).

52    Moreover we are told in another New Text report that Yahshua came from the seed of David as was according to the promise of Israel (the creator) , and that Yahshua is born to all the people of Israel.  John, the Baptist, preached of baptism and repentance to all the people of Israel.  The prophets and John tell us that Yahshua is come to Israel, the people of Israel (the creator)   (Acts 13:23-24) (en# 18)

53    The people of Israel (the creator) have been called Israel from the time Israel (the creator) first called them by name.  Israel (the creator) said he will give his people a new name, and this is future tense.  John has visions of a new name being announced for the people of Israel (the creator) , and this is still in the future.  Moreover, when Israel (the creator) gives his people a new name (other than Israel) it seems to coincide with the return of Yahshua, which has not yet happened.

54    It seems that if you desire to show yourself as belonging to something, then you would use a nomenclature that best fits.  If your father gave you a name and you want to be known as your father’s child, then surely you would use the name he gives you.  Of course, you probably can take a nick name.

KJV Hebrews 7:1 For this Melchisedec, king of Salem, priest of the most high God, who met Abraham returning from the slaughter of the kings, and blessed him;
 2 To whom also Abraham gave a tenth part of all; first being by interpretation King of righteousness, and after that also King of Salem, which is, King of peace;
3 Without father, without mother, without descent, having neither beginning of days, nor end of life; but made like unto the Son of God; abideth a priest continually.
4 Now consider how great this man was, unto whom even the patriarch Abraham gave the tenth of the spoils.
5 And verily they that are of the sons of Levi, who receive the office of the priesthood, have a commandment to take tithes of the people according to the law, that is, of their brethren, though they come out of the loins of Abraham:

24 And to Jesus the mediator of the new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling, that speaketh better things than that of Abel.
25 See that ye refuse not him that speaketh. For if they escaped not who refused him that spake on earth, much more shall not we escape, if we turn away from him that speaketh from heaven:

Jeremiah 31:31 Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah:
32 Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day that I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt; which my covenant they brake, although I was an husband unto them, saith the LORD:
33 But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, saith the LORD, I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people.
34 And they shall teach no more every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the LORD: for they shall all know me, from the least of them unto the greatest of them, saith the LORD: for I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more.
35 Thus saith the LORD, which giveth the sun for a light by day, and the ordinances of the moon and of the stars for a light by night, which divideth the sea when the waves thereof roar; The LORD of hosts is his name:
36 If those ordinances depart from before me, saith the LORD, then the seed of Israel also shall cease from being a nation before me for ever.

7 For if that first covenant had been faultless, then should no place have been sought for the second.
8 For finding fault with them, he saith, Behold, the days come, saith the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah:
9 Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day when I took them by the hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt; because they continued not in my covenant, and I regarded them not, saith the Lord.
10 For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, saith the Lord; I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts: and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people:
11 And they shall not teach every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the Lord: for all shall know me, from the least to the greatest.
12 For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more.

23 Who, when he came, and had seen the grace of God, was glad, and exhorted them all, that with purpose of heart they would cleave unto the Lord.
24 For he was a good man, and full of the Holy Ghost and of faith: and much people was added unto the Lord.
25 Then departed Barnabas to Tarsus, for to seek Saul:
26 And when he had found him, he brought him unto Antioch. And it came to pass, that a whole year they assembled themselves with the church, and taught much people. And the disciples were called Christians first in Antioch.
27 And in these days came prophets from Jerusalem unto Antioch.
28 And there stood up one of them named Agabus, and signified by the Spirit that there should be great dearth throughout all the world: which came to pass in the days of Claudius Caesar.
29 Then the disciples, every man according to his ability, determined to send relief unto the brethren which dwelt in Judaea:
30 Which also they did, and sent it to the elders by the hands of Barnabas and Saul.

Acts 26:23 That Christ should suffer, and that he should be the first that should rise from the dead, and should shew light unto the people, and to the Gentiles.
24 And as he thus spake for himself, Festus said with a loud voice, Paul, thou art beside thyself; much learning doth make thee mad.
25 But he said, I am not mad, most noble Festus; but speak forth the words of truth and soberness.
26 For the king knoweth of these things, before whom also I speak freely: for I am persuaded that none of these things are hidden from him; for this thing was not done in a corner.
27 King Agrippa, believest thou the prophets? I know that thou believest.
28 Then Agrippa said unto Paul, Almost thou persuadest me to be a Christian.
29 And Paul said, I would to God, that not only thou, but also all that hear me this day, were both almost, and altogether such as I am, except these bonds.
30 And when he had thus spoken, the king rose up, and the governor, and Bernice, and they that sat with them:
31 And when they were gone aside, they talked between themselves, saying, This man doeth nothing worthy of death or of bonds.
32 Then said Agrippa unto Festus, This m

1 Peter 4:12 Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you:
13 But rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ's sufferings; that, when his glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy.
14 If ye be reproached for the name of Christ, happy are ye; for the spirit of glory and of God resteth upon you: on their part he is evil spoken of, but on your part he is glorified.
15 But let none of you suffer as a murderer, or as a thief, or as an evildoer, or as a busybody in other men's matters.
16 Yet if any man suffer as a Christian, let him not be ashamed; but let him glorify God on this behalf.
17 For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God?
18 And if the righteous scarcely be saved, where shall the ungodly and the sinner appear?
19 Wherefore let them that suffer according to the will of God commit the keeping of their souls to him in well doing, as unto a faithful Creator.

2 Chronicles 7:13 If I shut up heaven that there be no rain, or if I command the locusts to devour the land, or if I send pestilence among my people;
14 If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.
15 Now mine eyes shall be open, and mine ears attent unto the prayer that is made in this place.

2 Chronicles 6:5 Since the day that I brought forth my people out of the land of Egypt I chose no city among all the tribes of Israel to build an house in, that my name might be there; neither chose I any man to be a ruler over my people Israel:
6 But I have chosen Jerusalem, that my name might be there; and have chosen David to be over my people Israel.

Isaiah 62:1 For Zion's sake will I not hold my peace, and for Jerusalem's sake I will not rest, until the righteousness thereof go forth as brightness, and the salvation thereof as a lamp that burneth.
2 And the Gentiles shall see thy righteousness, and all kings thy glory: and thou shalt be called by a new name, which the mouth of the LORD shall name.

Revelation 2:14 But I have a few things against thee, because thou hast there them that hold the doctrine of Balaam, who taught Balac to cast a stumblingblock before the children of Israel, to eat things sacrificed unto idols, and to commit fornication.
15 So hast thou also them that hold the doctrine of the Nicolaitans, which thing I hate.
16 Repent; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will fight against them with the sword of my mouth.
17 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the hidden manna, and will give him a white stone, and in the stone a new name written, which no man knoweth saving he that receiveth it.

Revelation 3: 1 And unto the angel of the church in Sardis write; These things saith he that hath the seven Spirits of God, and the seven stars; I know thy works, that thou hast a name that thou livest, and art dead.
2 Be watchful, and strengthen the things which remain, that are ready to die: for I have not found thy works perfect before God.
3 Remember therefore how thou hast received and heard, and hold fast, and repent. If therefore thou shalt not watch, I will come on thee as a thief, and thou shalt not know what hour I will come upon thee.
4 Thou hast a few names even in Sardis which have not defiled their garments; and they shall walk with me in white: for they are worthy.
5 He that overcometh, the same shall be clothed in white raiment; and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life, but I will confess his name before my Father, and before his angels.
6 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches.
 7 And to the angel of the church in Philadelphia write; These things saith he that is holy, he that is true, he that hath the key of David, he that openeth, and no man shutteth; and shutteth, and no man openeth;
8 I know thy works: behold, I have set before thee an open door, and no man can shut it: for thou hast a little strength, and hast kept my word, and hast not denied my name.
9 Behold, I will make them of the synagogue of Satan, which say they are Jews, and are not, but do lie; behold, I will make them to come and worship before thy feet, and to know that I have loved thee.
10 Because thou hast kept the word of my patience, I also will keep thee from the hour of temptation, which shall come upon all the world, to try them that dwell upon the earth.
11 Behold, I come quickly: hold that fast which thou hast, that no man take thy crown.
12 Him that overcometh will I make a pillar in the temple of my God, and he shall go no more out: and I will write upon him the name of my God, and the name of the city of my God, which is new Jerusalem, which cometh down out of heaven from my God: and I will write upon him my new name.
13 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches.
 14 And unto the angel of the church of the Laodiceans write; These things saith the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of the creation of God;
15 I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot.
16 So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth.

Matthew 2:1 Now when Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judaea in the days of Herod the king, behold, there came wise men from the east to Jerusalem,
2 Saying, Where is he that is born King of the Jews? for we have seen his star in the east, and are come to worship him.
3 When Herod the king had heard these things, he was troubled, and all Jerusalem with him.
4 And when he had gathered all the chief priests and scribes of the people together, he demanded of them where Christ should be born.
5 And they said unto him, In Bethlehem of Judaea: for thus it is written by the prophet,
6 And thou Bethlehem, in the land of Juda, art not the least among the princes of Juda: for out of thee shall come a Governor, that shall rule my people Israel.
7 Then Herod, when he had privily called the wise men, enquired of them diligently what time the star appeared.
8 And he sent them to Bethlehem, and said, Go and search diligently for the young child; and when ye have found him, bring me word again, that I may come and worship him also.
9 When they had heard the king, they departed; and, lo, the star, which they saw in the east, went before them, till it came and stood over where the young child was.

Acts 13:1 Now there were in the church that was at Antioch certain prophets and teachers; as Barnabas, and Simeon that was called Niger, and Lucius of Cyrene, and Manaen, which had been brought up with Herod the tetrarch, and Saul.
2 As they ministered to the Lord, and fasted, the Holy Ghost said, Separate me Barnabas and Saul for the work whereunto I have called them.
3 And when they had fasted and prayed, and laid their hands on them, they sent them away.
4 So they, being sent forth by the Holy Ghost, departed unto Seleucia; and from thence they sailed to Cyprus.
5 And when they were at Salamis, they preached the word of God in the synagogues of the Jews: and they had also John to their minister.
6 And when they had gone through the isle unto Paphos, they found a certain sorcerer, a false prophet, a Jew, whose name was Barjesus:
7 Which was with the deputy of the country, Sergius Paulus, a prudent man; who called for Barnabas and Saul, and desired to hear the word of God.
8 But Elymas the sorcerer (for so is his name by interpretation ) withstood them, seeking to turn away the deputy from the faith.
9 Then Saul, (who also is called Paul,) filled with the Holy Ghost, set his eyes on him,
10 And said, O full of all subtilty and all mischief, thou child of the devil, thou enemy of all righteousness, wilt thou not cease to pervert the right ways of the Lord?
11 And now, behold, the hand of the Lord is upon thee, and thou shalt be blind, not seeing the sun for a season. And immediately there fell on him a mist and a darkness; and he went about seeking some to lead him by the hand.
12 Then the deputy, when he saw what was done, believed, being astonished at the doctrine of the Lord.
13 Now when Paul and his company loosed from Paphos, they came to Perga in Pamphylia: and John departing from them returned to Jerusalem.
14 But when they departed from Perga, they came to Antioch in Pisidia, and went into the synagogue on the sabbath day, and sat down.
15 And after the reading of the law and the prophets the rulers of the synagogue sent unto them, saying, Ye men and brethren, if ye have any word of exhortation for the people, say on.
16 Then Paul stood up, and beckoning with his hand said, Men of Israel, and ye that fear God, give audience.
17 The God of this people of Israel chose our fathers, and exalted the people when they dwelt as strangers in the land of Egypt, and with an high arm brought he them out of it.
18 And about the time of forty years suffered he their manners in the wilderness.
19 And when he had destroyed seven nations in the land of Chanaan, he divided their land to them by lot.
20 And after that he gave unto them judges about the space of four hundred and fifty years, until Samuel the prophet.
21 And afterward they desired a king: and God gave unto them Saul the son of Cis, a man of the tribe of Benjamin, by the space of forty years.
22 And when he had removed him, he raised up unto them David to be their king; to whom also he gave testimony, and said, I have found David the son of Jesse, a man after mine own heart, which shall fulfil all my will.
23 Of this man's seed hath God according to his promise raised unto Israel a Saviour, Jesus:
24 When John had first preached before his coming the baptism of repentance to all the people of Israel.
25 And as John fulfilled his course, he said, Whom think ye that I am? I am not he. But, behold, there cometh one after me, whose shoes of his feet I am not worthy to loose.
26 Men and brethren, children of the stock of Abraham, and whosoever among you feareth God, to you is the word of this salvation sent.
27 For they that dwell at Jerusalem, and their rulers, because they knew him not, nor yet the voices of the prophets which are read every sabbath day, they have fulfilled them in condemning him.

Ezekiel 37:15 The word of the LORD came again unto me, saying,
16 Moreover, thou son of man, take thee one stick, and write upon it, For Judah, and for the children of Israel his companions: then take another stick, and write upon it, For Joseph, the stick of Ephraim, and for all the house of Israel his companions:
17 And join them one to another into one stick; and they shall become one in thine hand.
18 And when the children of thy people shall speak unto thee, saying, Wilt thou not shew us what thou meanest by these?
19 Say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I will take the stick of Joseph, which is in the hand of Ephraim, and the tribes of Israel his fellows, and will put them with him, even with the stick of Judah, and make them one stick, and they shall be one in mine hand.
20 And the sticks whereon thou writest shall be in thine hand before their eyes.
21 And say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I will take the children of Israel from among the heathen, whither they be gone, and will gather them on every side, and bring them into their own land:
22 And I will make them one nation in the land upon the mountains of Israel; and one king shall be king to them all: and they shall be no more two nations, neither shall they be divided into two kingdoms any more at all:
23 Neither shall they defile themselves any more with their idols, nor with their detestable things, nor with any of their transgressions: but I will save them out of all their dwellingplaces, wherein they have sinned, and will cleanse them: so shall they be my people, and I will be their God.
24 And David my servant shall be king over them; and they all shall have one shepherd: they shall also walk in my judgments, and observe my statutes, and do them.
25 And they shall dwell in the land that I have given unto Jacob my servant, wherein your fathers have dwelt; and they shall dwell therein, even they, and their children, and their children's children for ever: and my servant David shall be their prince for ever.
26 Moreover I will make a covenant of peace with them; it shall be an everlasting covenant with them: and I will place them, and multiply them, and will set my sanctuary in the midst of them for evermore.
27 My tabernacle also shall be with them: yea, I will be their God, and they shall be my people.
28 And the heathen shall know that I the LORD do sanctify Israel, when my sanctuary shall be in the midst of them for evermore.
