The Mark & Image

This writing is not intended to be a complete telling of this topic, but with a thought to brevity, it should allow for good learning.
Probably no topic or issue can stand alone without consideration for information from other topics and issues.  Therefore, for better understanding of terms and concepts used herein, other papers should be read in conjunction with this paper and others.  One in particular for early reading is What is in a Name

What do people know or believe?

So many people fear the mark of the beast.  Most are driven by their ignorance and false teachings of false teachers/preachers.

So many people do not understand this mark.  Most have done little more than read the words on the pages of Scripture and fail to understand other parallel Scriptural references and the colloquialisms of the Scriptures.

So many people mis-lead many other people and usually for profit or control and power and more importantly - falsely.  After all, if the sheeple are confused and/or afraid and/or feel ignorant, then surely they NEED a shepherd.

I do not pretend to understand everything or all, but if we take some of the Scripture as written, we can easily remove much of the veil called mysticism.

What is a Mark?

A mark can take many forms and have many meanings.  There is “the mark”, and other marks which resemble it or foretell of it or even parallel it.

A name is a mark.  If your name is Bob Jones, then you wear the mark of Jones.  This might be called an intangible mark.

A badge is a mark.  If you wear an ID badge for your job, then you wear the mark of your boss.  This might be called a physical mark or a tangible mark.

An education is a mark.  What you have learned is what someone else taught you, therefore, you wear your teacher(s) mark in your thoughts and actions.  These might be called intangible marks.

A tattoo is a mark.  What you display on your skin, or just under the surface, is like a badge and it has a meaning indicative of the symbol and/or words you put there.  These might be called a physical mark or a tangible mark.

Your thoughts and deeds are marks.  When you work for someone and you think the way they want, then you wear their mark upon you mind (in the front - where you think).  When you work for someone and you work the way they want, then you wear their mark upon your body (on your hand – as a symbol of your labor).  These might be called intangible marks.

So, a mark can take many forms and have many meanings.

More importantly, a mark is for the purpose of identification.  A mark can identify you as who you are, as to whom you belong, as who owns you, as where you have been, where you are, where you are going.  But, at its base, a mark is identification.

The Mark of “I Am”

First, you have to understand that the name of God is “I Am” or “Yah” (see the paper “What is in a Name”).

“I Am” placed a mark upon Cain so that others in the world would know that he was protected by the Lord (Genesis 4:15) (en# 1).  So, a mark was upon Cain.  It was a mark which obviously anyone else could clearly see.  This gives the impression that it was a mark that was external of the body and visible even while wearing clothes.  Scripture does not say where the mark was, but it was a mark, a mark of physical characteristics, it is tangible.  In this case, the mark is a mark of “I Am”, therefore Cain had a mark of “I Am” and was noted to be one of His people, to be protected from the wrath of people.

The painting of blood on the doorways of the Hebrew/Israel in Egypt (Exodus 12:13) (en# 10) was a mark that identified certain peoples (homes) and allowed the angels to Passover them with death.  This is a physical mark.

In Ezekiel 9:3-6 (en# 2), the man who had the writer’s “inkhorn”, a writer/journalist, was instructed to go through the city and mark the foreheads of certain people who would be spared a slaying.  Obviously, this writer is to use his ink to mark these selected people, so the mark must be on the body, their foreheads.  This draws to mind something like makeup or body paint (not unlike war paint), a physical mark, it is tangible.  In this case, the mark is a mark of “I Am”, and these people were His people, to be protected from the attacks of the people the Lord commanded to execute his wrath.

Revelation 16:2 (en# 3) refers to the mark of the beast being upon certain people, and those people worship the image of the beast.  These people will experience sores of great suffering.  This mark is a mark of “the beast”, and these people are the beasts people (as evidenced by the mark they wear), not under protection of “I Am” from these sores.  The type or placement of the mark is not clear, but Revelation 14:8 (en# 4) makes it clear that the mark of the beast will be upon the forehead and/or hand.  The sores come upon those who have the mark of the beast and upon those who worshipped the beast image.  If there is a connection between having the mark and worshipping the image, it is like worshipping is an internal thing, something you think and/or feel.  So is the mark of the beast, it is intangible.  The mark of the beast is a matter of what you think and/or do.  What you think is represented by the forehead (or more specifically the frontal lobes of the brain), and what you do is represented by your hand (the unique work of man is conducted by the hands).  In this case, those who think or do as the beast would have them, are followers of the beast.  Since nothing here says those with the mark or worshipping the image of the beast do so knowingly, it is possible that people can HONESTLY & SINCERELY be following the beast rather than “I Am”.

Revelation 20:4 (en# 5) refers to both those people who did and did not receive the mark of the beast.  Beginning at verse 1, John tells of seeing an angel who bound (locked away) Satan and this imprisonment would last a thousand years.  John continues by telling that he saw thrones with entities sitting on the thrones.

These entities had authority of judgment.  Judgment simply means to make decisions about matters brought before the throne (forum).

You should notice that a few verses later, around verse 11, John kind of repeats himself and clarifies the story about the white throne of judgment.  In all, John tells of a judgment before the white throne and how first those who died will be judged.  Either they will be judged and have life or have death, after all that is the promise.

If what John says in verse 4 is any indication, then those who DID NOT take the mark of the beast, or worship the beasts image, or worship the beast, would live and reign with “Israel” or “Yahshua” (see the paper “What is in a Name”) for a thousand years.  These are the chosen people of “Israel”.

The mark of this beast is to be on the forehead or on the hand.  Does it mean a literal mark, a physical mark, a tangible mark?  Or, does it mean an intangible mark, a thing that identifies you by what you think and do?  As with Revelation 16:2, discussed previously, if there is a connection between having the mark and worshipping the image, then as worshipping is an internal thing, something you think and/or feel, so is this mark, it is intangible.  It is a matter of what you think and/or do.  This is relating to the “the mark” of the beast, but do you recall that a mark can take many forms and have many meanings.  There is “the mark”, and other marks which resemble it or foretell of it or even parallel it.  This means you could take other marks relating to “the mark”, which identify you are having the mark of the beast.

Revelation 13:14-18 (en# 6) refers to another beast (or another description of the beast, or agent of the beast).  This beast will do things that makes the people want to follow him and do what the beast wants done.  The people will follow the beast to think what the beast wants thought.  You can think of this as a cult (defined here as a body of persons who accept a system of belief)

Interestingly, verse 14 says the people will make the very image that will take on a life of its own.  The people will worship the very image they make.  In law, there is a principle known as a legal fiction.  Corporations are an example of legal fictions.  Legal fictions are creations of man which take on a life of their own and are allowed to do things like what you a real person can do.  A legal fiction can buy, sell, own, hire, fire, sue, be sued, and much more, just like you.

You can create a legal fiction which has your name and act in its own legal capacity.  It can have your name and you may be the hand that signs the papers of this legal fiction.  This happens every day all over Earth.  These legal fictions are known by various name or titles.  Corporations, dba’s, social security accounts, bank accounts, cities, states, and much more.  These are examples of man “making” something which takes on a life of its own.

Let us look at something which has become so ubiquitous that hardly anyone gives it a 2nd thought.  Something that most people find they must have to buy and sell.  Something that marks them, identifies them as belonging to something they help make.  The thing here is known as a social security account and number (SSN).  Some of you say, you have heard this before, and I am not telling you that the SSN is the number or mark of the beast.  But, I will tell you that ANYTHING that resembles the elements of the mark and number of the beast are things for me to treat with a practice in avoidance.

Bare with me a little longer and see if there is any possibility of truth to the SSN being the mark or number of the beast or at least associated with it.

There are people of this world who almost beg for a SSN.  They do it in many forms.  They may want a certain job so badly that they will gladly acquire and/or present a SSN to get the job.  They want a credit account so badly that they will gladly acquire and/or present a SSN to get the credit.  This continues for most everything in this modern world that many people want.  They want so badly they will do whatever is asked of them, even sell their soul – literally.

If you use anything but real money or federal reserve notes to buy and sell, you almost certainly must have a SSN.  If you use checks, you probably used a SSN to open the account and therefore every time you write a check, you are using the mark of the SSN.  If you got a credit account, you probably used a SSN to open the account and therefore every time you make a payment on the account or add more to the account, you are using the mark of the SSN.

If the government or some government controlled corporation (both are legal fictions) tells you to get and/or use SSN to have dealings with them and you do it, then you have branded yourself with the mark of those legal fictions through a SSN.  Remember, you chose to do this, it was not forced upon you.  You wanted what they offered and did what they demanded.

What does worship mean?  In the Hebrew it is translated from “shachah” meaning obedience.  In the Greek it is translated as “proskuneo” meaning obedience or pay homage.  To get what the government or corporations (legal fictions) want, you must obey their rules and/or pay homage to them.  Then you get what they offer.

Revelation 14:11 (en# 7) and others tell us that there will be those who take the mark of the beast and worship the image of the beast.  Remember the image is what man makes.  Many people limit their imagination to thinking of some kind of statue or painting to be an image.  That there are some who will take the mark and/or worship the image, implies there are some who will NOT take the mark or worship the image.

So, how hard is it to imagine that the legal fiction of government or corporations which man has made uses numbers to identify its chattel?  If it looks like a duck and quacks like a duck and walks like a duck, it must be a duck – Right?  If it looks like the mark of the beast or its image, or acts like the mark of the beast or its image, or is used like the mark of the beast or its image, then it must be the mark of the beast or its image – Right?  Even if you still say no, you should at least admit that anything that resembles the mark of the beast or its image is something to be avoided.

Eventually, victory is had over the beast and his image, mark and number (Revelation 15:2) (en# 8).

In Revelation 19:20 (en# 9), the beast and those who receive the mark of the beast, and them that worship his image are cast alive into a lake of fire burning with brimstone.

What of the SSN?

A separate writing entitled 42 USC 666 show powerful evidence that the SSN could be a mark to be avoided.

Whatever the mark of the beast and the image thereof is, does it not make sense to practice avoidance of anything that wears the characteristics of them?

Genesis 4:14 Behold, thou hast driven me out this day from the face of the earth; and from thy face shall I be hid; and I shall be a fugitive and a vagabond in the earth; and it shall come to pass, that every one that findeth me shall slay me.
15 And the LORD said unto him, Therefore whosoever slayeth Cain, vengeance shall be taken on him sevenfold. And the LORD set a mark upon Cain, lest any finding him should kill him.
16 And Cain went out from the presence of the LORD, and dwelt in the land of Nod, on the east of Eden.

Ezekiel 9:1 He cried also in mine ears with a loud voice, saying, Cause them that have charge over the city to draw near, even every man with his destroying weapon in his hand.
2 And, behold, six men came from the way of the higher gate, which lieth toward the north, and every man a slaughter weapon in his hand; and one man among them was clothed with linen, with a writer's inkhorn by his side: and they went in, and stood beside the brasen altar.
 3 And the glory of the God of Israel was gone up from the cherub, whereupon he was, to the threshold of the house. And he called to the man clothed with linen, which had the writer's inkhorn by his side;
4 And the LORD said unto him, Go through the midst of the city, through the midst of Jerusalem, and set a mark upon the foreheads of the men that sigh and that cry for all the abominations that be done in the midst thereof.
5 And to the others he said in mine hearing, Go ye after him through the city, and smite: let not your eye spare, neither have ye pity:
6 Slay utterly old and young, both maids, and little children, and women: but come not near any man upon whom is the mark; and begin at my sanctuary. Then they began at the ancient men which were before the house.
7 And he said unto them, Defile the house, and fill the courts with the slain: go ye forth. And they went forth, and slew in the city.
8 And it came to pass, while they were slaying them, and I was left, that I fell upon my face, and cried, and said, Ah Lord GOD! wilt thou destroy all the residue of Israel in thy pouring out of thy fury upon Jerusalem?

Revelation 16:1 And I heard a great voice out of the temple saying to the seven angels, Go your ways, and pour out the vials of the wrath of God upon the earth.
2 And the first went, and poured out his vial upon the earth; and there fell a noisome and grievous sore upon the men which had the mark of the beast, and upon them which worshipped his image
3 And the second angel poured out his vial upon the sea; and it became as the blood of a dead man: and every living soul died in the sea.
4 And the third angel poured out his vial upon the rivers and fountains of waters; and they became blood.
5 And I heard the angel of the waters say, Thou art righteous, O Lord, which art, and wast, and shalt be, because thou hast judged thus.
6 For they have shed the blood of saints and prophets, and thou hast given them blood to drink; for they are worthy.

Revelation 14:8 And there followed another angel, saying, Babylon is fallen, is fallen, that great city, because she made all nations drink of the wine of the wrath of her fornication.
9 And the third angel followed them, saying with a loud voice, If any man worship the beast and his image, and receive his mark in his forehead, or in his hand,
10 The same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out without mixture into the cup of his indignation; and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb:
11 And the smoke of their torment ascendeth up for ever and ever: and they have no rest day nor night, who worship the beast and his image, and whosoever receiveth the mark of his name.

Revelation 20:1 And I saw an angel come down from heaven, having the key of the bottomless pit and a great chain in his hand.
2 And he laid hold on the dragon, that old serpent, which is the Devil, and Satan, and bound him a thousand years,
3 And cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, and set a seal upon him, that he should deceive the nations no more, till the thousand years should be fulfilled: and after that he must be loosed a little season.
:4 And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years.
5 But the rest of the dead lived not again until the thousand years were finished. This is the first resurrection.
6 Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years.
7 And when the thousand years are expired, Satan shall be loosed out of his prison,
8 And shall go out to deceive the nations which are in the four quarters of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them together to battle: the number of whom is as the sand of the sea.
9 And they went up on the breadth of the earth, and compassed the camp of the saints about, and the beloved city: and fire came down from God out of heaven, and devoured them.
10 And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever.
11 And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them.
12 And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.
13 And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works.
14 And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.
15 And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.

Revelation 13:9 If any man have an ear, let him hear.
10 He that leadeth into captivity shall go into captivity: he that killeth with the sword must be killed with the sword. Here is the patience and the faith of the saints.
11 And I beheld another beast coming up out of the earth; and he had two horns like a lamb, and he spake as a dragon.
12 And he exerciseth all the power of the first beast before him, and causeth the earth and them which dwell therein to worship the first beast, whose deadly wound was healed.
13 And he doeth great wonders, so that he maketh fire come down from heaven on the earth in the sight of men,
14 And deceiveth them that dwell on the earth by the means of those miracles which he had power to do in the sight of the beast; saying to them that dwell on the earth, that they should make an image to the beast, which had the wound by a sword, and did live.
15 And he had power to give life unto the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak, and cause that as many as would not worship the image of the beast should be killed.
16 And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads:
17 And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.
18 Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number is Six hundred threescore and six.

2 And I saw as it were a sea of glass mingled with fire: and them that had gotten the victory over the beast, and over his image, and over his mark, and over the number of his name, stand on the sea of glass, having the harps of God.
3 And they sing the song of Moses the servant of God, and the song of the Lamb, saying, Great and marvellous are thy works, Lord God Almighty; just and true are thy ways, thou King of saints.
4 Who shall not fear thee, O Lord, and glorify thy name? for thou only art holy: for all nations shall come and worship before thee; for thy judgments are made manifest.
5 And after that I looked, and, behold, the temple of the tabernacle of the testimony in heaven was opened:
6 And the seven angels came out of the temple, having the seven plagues, clothed in pure and white linen, and having their breasts girded with golden girdles.
7 And one of the four beasts gave unto the seven angels seven golden vials full of the wrath of God, who liveth for ever and ever.
8 And the temple was filled with smoke from the glory of God, and from his power; and no man was able to enter into the temple, till the seven plagues of the seven angels were fulfilled.

Revelation 19:9 And he saith unto me, Write, Blessed are they which are called unto the marriage supper of the Lamb. And he saith unto me, These are the true sayings of God.
10 And I fell at his feet to worship him. And he said unto me, See thou do it not: I am thy fellowservant, and of thy brethren that have the testimony of Jesus: worship God: for the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.
11 And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war.
12 His eyes were as a flame of fire, and on his head were many crowns; and he had a name written, that no man knew, but he himself.
13 And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God.
14 And the armies which were  in heaven followed him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean.
15 And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God.
16 And he hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS.
 17 And I saw an angel standing in the sun; and he cried with a loud voice, saying to all the fowls that fly in the midst of heaven, Come and gather yourselves together unto the supper of the great God;
18 That ye may eat the flesh of kings, and the flesh of captains, and the flesh of mighty men, and the flesh of horses, and of them that sit on them, and the flesh of all men, both free and bond, both small and great.
19 And I saw the beast, and the kings of the earth, and their armies, gathered together to make war against him that sat on the horse, and against his army.
20 And the beast was taken, and with him the false prophet that wrought miracles before him, with which he deceived them that had received the mark of the beast, and them that worshipped his image. These both were cast alive into a lake of fire burning with brimstone.
21 And the remnant were slain with the sword of him that sat upon the horse, which sword proceeded out of his mouth: and all the fowls were filled with their flesh.

Exodus 12: 7 And they shall take of the blood, and strike it on the two side posts and on the upper door post of the houses, wherein they shall eat it.
8 And they shall eat the flesh in that night, roast with fire, and unleavened bread; and with bitter herbs they shall eat it.
9 Eat not of it raw, nor sodden at all with water, but roast with fire; his head with his legs, and with the purtenance thereof.
10 And ye shall let nothing of it remain until the morning; and that which remaineth of it until the morning ye shall burn with fire.
11 And thus shall ye eat it; with your loins girded, your shoes on your feet, and your staff in your hand; and ye shall eat it in haste: it is the LORD'S passover.
12 For I will pass through the land of Egypt this night, and will smite all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, both man and beast; and against all the gods of Egypt I will execute judgment: I am the LORD.
13 And the blood shall be to you for a token upon the houses where ye are: and when I see the blood, I will pass over you, and the plague shall not be upon you to destroy you, when I smite the land of Egypt.
14 And this day shall be unto you for a memorial; and ye shall keep it a feast to the LORD throughout your generations; ye shall keep it a feast by an ordinance for ever.
